About the Team
The team's goal is to ensure that our customers can access our service simply and securely. We focus on providing solutions for customer authentication and account management. Our daily challenges involve simplifying and securing the authentication flows and customer data. As a fully backend team, we provide APIs and services used by the teams building customer-facing features at Storytel.

We are currently working on adapting an identity solution in combination with a more refined microservice architecture to reach truly scalable performance and handle upcoming challenges.

As a backend developer in our team, you will play an active role in refining new features, planning architecture, and investigating system behaviors. We are a small team of four people that work very closely together - we discuss solutions, draw flows, and architecture together, which we value and expect from all team members.

About the Role
Take the next step in your career as a Senior Backend Developer at Storytel! You will work with cutting-edge technologies alongside experienced colleagues. Our team builds and maintains the authentication and privacy services that ensure our customers can access so many great stories on our platform and that their personal data is protected while doing so.

At Storytel, engineers are viewed as leaders within the Individual Contributor roles, aiming to create impact and drive initiatives to bring our audio entertainment service to millions of users.

We host our services in Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform using a variety of languages, including Java and Kotlin.

About You
To be successful in this role, we believe that you have

• At least 6 years of experience coding HTTP services in a typed language - Like Java or Kotlin.
• Experience working with cloud services and are familiar with their concepts - Google Cloud Platform, Azure, AWS or similar
• Excellent at writing and speaking English
• Enjoy working collaboratively and believe in team excellence

And for some bonus points:

• Experience working with authentication and security
• Experience writing appropriate and useful Unit/integration/E2E Tests
• Ability to write understandable, secure, and maintainable code
