The role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill a role as Data Protection and Compliance Legal Counsel. In this role, you will actively work close to the entire global organization and serve as the primary point of contact for various questions related to data protection and regulatory compliance. You will report to Storytel’s General Counsel and collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Internal Control and Security. As a part of Storytel’s dynamic legal department, you will play a key role in ensuring the success of our organization.

Role and responsibilities

• Take on the role as a group data protection officer (DPO) and provide continuous guidance and advice on data protection compliance, including data breach/incident management, data mapping and handle queries and complaints
• Lead and assist our internal network of Data Protection Coordinators (DPC) with projects and questions related to data protection within different divisions
• Take the role as Compliance Legal Counsel, which includes identifying and evaluating risks related regulatory compliance in our operations, including whistleblowing, anti-bribery, corruption and trade sanction regulations
• Serve as a liaison internally with various teams and functions and externally with legal advisors, regulators and relevant authorities
• Implement and develop policies, processes and guidelines and lead global compliance projects
• Keep up to date with legal requirements and best practices within data protection and regulatory compliance and provide awareness training to support the organization in their compliance work

Your profile

• Swedish LL.M. (Jur. kand./Juristexamen) or international equivalent such as J.D. degree
• Relevant experience from law firm and/or as in-house corporate lawyer with focus on data protection and an interest/experience in compliance
• Excellent English and Swedish language skills (both written and spoken)
• Outstanding communication skills including the ability to provide clear and simple guidance in complex matters to different parts of the organization
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in stressful and/or ambiguous situations
